Weekly Report April 25, 2014 to May 1, 2014

During this time the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to 106 calls for service. There were 39 false emergency 911 hang-ups and security alarms received during this period. The following notable complaints were received:

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine State Police participated in a joint operation targeting OUI enforcement in our county. This operation included general patrol and sobriety checkpoints.

Several deputies responded to a complaint of an underage drinking in East Machias. As a result of this investigation, five underage subjects were summoned for Minor Possessing Liquor. Also with one adult female was arrested and transport to the Washington County Jail charged with Allowing Minor to Possess or Consume Liquor.

A report of a stolen vehicle from a location in Machias was received by Machias Police Department. Sergeant Brandon Parker was patrolling in the Jonesboro area and met a vehicle matching the description of the sought vehicle. Sgt. Parker stopped the vehicle which had four individuals inside. Several deputies responded to the scene resulting in a male and female occupant being arrested on several charges and both were transported to the Washington County Jail.

Sergeant Ralph Pineo conducted a bail check in reference to drug court compliance conditions on two subjects in Cherryfield and Steuben. Both subjects were found to be in compliance with all conditions.

Lieutenant Timothy Tabbutt was assisted by Deputy Dennis Worcester in Addison where an individual was issued two summonses for Violation of Bail and Unlawful Trafficking Schedule W Drug.

Deputy Steven Ramsey responded to a report in Pembroke where a resident reported the theft of a telephone handset and a gray African parrot. Investigation continues in this case.

A complaint was reported in the Town of Machiasport where a residence had been burglarized and copper piping had been stolen. Deputy Dennis Worcester is continuing with the investigation into this incident.

Sergeant Brandon Parker is investigating the theft of two solar batteries from a shed at a summer residence in Whiting. Investigation continues in this case.

Lieutenant Travis Willey issued a summons to a subject for failing to comply with the state sex offender registry.

A joint operation in Princeton including law enforcement officers from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Maine State Police, Indian Township Police and Border Patrol affected the apprehension of a male subject on four warrants out of Maine. Suspect was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail.

Deputy Steven Ramsey responded to Penniman Pond in Day Block Township where it was reported that two propane tanks had been stolen from a cottage. Investigation continues in this case.
