Weekly Report for March 14 – 20, 2014

During this time the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to 79 calls for service. Several bail checks were done by the deputies during this time. The deputies responded to 15 motor vehicle accidents. Notable complaints are listed below:

Deputy Gregory Sawyer investigated a possible theft in Princeton. The Food Mart reported finding 2 empty packages which should have contained tire gauges. Upon viewing the video a subject was located and issued a summons for Theft by Unauthorized Taking.

Sgt Ralph Pineo investigated a report of criminal mischief in Charlotte. A vehicle had been vandalized. Investigation continues.

Sgt Ralph Pineo received a call from a resident in Charlotte. He reported that ½ tank of diesel fuel was missing from his garage. Investigation is ongoing.

Sgt Ralph Pineo responded to a report of harassment in Edmunds Township. The caller had allegedly received numerous calls and text messages from his ex-wife. A verbal warning was given to the ex-wife.

Lt Timothy Tabbutt responded to a domestic disturbance in East Machias. A husband and wife were in a verbal argument. The wife agreed to leave for the night. No charges at this time.

Lt Timothy Tabbutt investigated a theft in Jonesport. Cash was reported missing from a home. Investigation is ongoing.

Sgt Ralph Pineo assisted US Customs with a warrant. An individual had an active warrant for desertion from the United States Army. Sgt Pineo arrested the subject.

Deputy Dennis Worcester assisted Machias Police Dept. with an unruly patient at Downeast Community Hospital.

Lt Timothy Tabbutt and Deputy Dennis Worcester responded to a domestic assault in Cherryfield. A male had allegedly assaulted his girlfriend. The male was arrested and charged with domestic assault.

Deputy Dennis Worcester investigated a possible criminal mischief in Jonesboro. A resident noticed that someone had tried to pry her door open while she was away. Investigation continues.

Lt Timothy Tabbutt, Sgt Ralph Pineo and Deputy Dennis Worcester executed a warrant in Lubec. A fugitive from Texas was living in Lubec under an alias. The fugitive was taken to the Washington County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Texas.

Sgt Brandon Parker responded to a call from a female that was reporting multiple injuries from her boyfriend. The female refused medical treatment. The boyfriend was arrested and charged with domestic assault.

March 7 – 13, 2014 Washington County Sheriff's Report

During this time the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to 50 calls for service. Several bail checks were done by the deputies during this time. Notable complaints are listed below:

Deputy Gregory Sawyer responded to a theft of oil complaint from a camp at Grand Lake Stream. Deputy Sawyer will conduct a further investigation.

Deputy Christopher Donahue arrested an individual in Topsfield for operating under the influence.

Deputy Dennis Worcester investigated an alleged violation of protection order. The protected party was receiving calls from the person he was not to have any contact. Investigation continues.

Deputy Dennis Worcester responded to a domestic disturbance in Lubec. A male who was allegedly intoxicated tried to run over his girlfriend. No charges at this time.

Lt Travis Willey responded to a report of sexual assault in Milbridge. Investigation continues.

Deputy Gregory Sawyer investigated a report of harassment in East Machias. An attorney reported being harassed by his client’s ex-husband. A verbal warning was issued.

Lt Travis Willey and Deputy Dennis Worcester responded to a sexual assault in Machiasport. A female reported 2 men had entered her residence and sexual assaulted her. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Maine State police. The investigation is ongoing.

Deputy Gregory Sawyer arrested an individual near Baileyville for operating under the influence.

Sgt Ralph Pineo assisted DHHS with the removal of children in East Machias.

Sgt Ralph Pineo assisted Machias Police Department with a report of an attempted home invasion in Machias. The intruders had left the residence before the officers arrived. The investigation continues.

Deputy Christopher Donahue investigated a report of harassment in Waite. Text messages were being exchanged between parties. Verbal warnings were issued.

Washington County Sheriff’s Report February 28 – March 6, 2014

During this time the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to 70 calls for service. Seven bail checks were done by the deputies during this time. Seven 911 hang up calls were received during this time. All 911 hang up calls require a response from a deputy. Notable complaints are listed below:

Sgt Brandon Parker investigated an assault in Pembroke. A neighbor had slapped another neighbor across the face. Victim did not want to press charges. No charges at this time.

Deputy Christopher Donahue assisted Calais Police Dept. with a home invasion Robbery in Calais. Deputy Donahue interviewed witnesses in the neighborhood. Investigation continues.

Sgt Ralph Pineo responded to a motor vehicle accident in Whiting. A car had rolled over with two people inside. No injuries were reported.

Sgt Ralph Pineo investigated a report of harassment by phone in Lubec. Sgt Pineo spoke with the person making the phone calls and she agreed to stop calling. No charges at this time.

Deputy Christopher Donahue assisted Maine State Trooper Kim Sawyer with transporting a suicidal individual to Calais Regional Hospital.

Deputy Christopher Donahue conducted a wellbeing check in Calais. The person was located and was fine.

Deputy Christopher Donahue investigated a vehicle driving erratically in Vanceboro at customs. Driver located and issued a summons.

Deputy Dennis Worcester assisted an individual in Perry in getting her things from her father’s residence. There were no issues.

Lt Timothy Tabbutt investigated suspicious activity at the Red Barn in Milbridge. Investigation continues.

Sgt Ralph Pineo assisted Machias Police Dept. with a report of a domestic disturbance in Machias. Chief Dwelley had the parties calmed down when Sgt Pineo arrived. No charges at this time.

Sgt Ralph Pineo assisted DHHS with a family meeting in Perry.

Deputy Christopher Donahue assisted with traffic in Baileyville during a fire at the Fulghum Fiber Mill.

Lt Timothy Tabbutt investigated a motor vehicle accident in Steuben. The driver had minor injuries and was intoxicated. The driver was charged with operating under the influence.

February 21 – 27, 2014 Sheriff's Report

During this time the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to 68 calls for service. Notable complaints are listed below:

Deputy Gregory Sawyer investigated suspicious activity in Jonesboro. A homeowner heard loud noises coming from behind her residence. Deputy Sawyer investigated and found no signs of anyone near the residence.

Deputy Gregory Sawyer assisted Calais Police Dept. with a possible burglary. The property was searched and nothing was missing.
Deputy Brandon Parker responded to a report of criminal trespass in Steuben. An individual reported that a neighbor was bothering her sheep. A verbal warning was given.

Lt Travis Willey, Deputy Christopher Donahue and Deputy Gregory Sawyer responded to a domestic disturbance in Meddybemps. A female reported that her husband had assaulted her. The husband was located and arrested for domestic assault.

Sgt Ralph Pineo investigated an assault in Grand Lake Stream. A female forced her way into a house and assaulted another female. A verbal warning was issued. The victim did not want to press charges.

Sgt Ralph Pineo investigated a report of theft in Princeton. A gun was reported missing from a truck while the owner was at a medical appointment. The gun was located in a bathroom at the doctor’s office later that day. The gun was returned to the owner. No charges pending.

Sgt Brandon Parker conducted a bail check in Marshfield. The subject had a no use or possession of drugs or alcohol condition. The subject was in compliance with the bail conditions.

Lt Timothy Tabbutt responded to a violation of protection order in Addison. The subject violating the order was located and arrested without incident. Subject transported to the Washington County Jail.

Deputy Christopher Donahue provided a police escort in Meddybemps. Deputy Donahue stood by while a subject retrieved his property from a residence.

Sgt Ralph Pineo investigated a violation of protection order in Lubec. Threats were made on Facebook. Investigation continues.

Sgt Ralph Pineo responded to a report of harassment in Pembroke. A female felt she was being harassed. She is seeking a protection from harassment from the court. Investigation continues.

Sgt Ralph Pineo conducted a bail check in Lubec. The subject had a no use or possession of drugs or alcohol condition. The subject was in compliance with the bail conditions.

Deputy Dennis Worcester responded to an assault in Harrington. A resident reported that her neighbor had knocked on her door and was upset over their dog being on her property. The neighbor slapped the resident. A verbal warning was given to the neighbor. The victim did not want to press charges.

Lt Timothy Tabbutt assisted Bucksport Police Dept. with an arrest on an individual traveling to Washington County. The individual was located in Steuben and transported to Hancock County Jail by the Maine State Police.

Deputy Dennis Worcester and Lt Travis Willey conducted a bail check in Jonesport. The subject had a no use or possession of drugs or alcohol condition. The subject tested positive for drugs. The subject was charged with a bail violation and transported to the Washington County Jail.
