WEEKLY REPORT WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE 04/11/11 TO 04/17/11

ITEMS OF INTEREST TO LOCAL AGENCIES:

04/11/11:

Deputy Ralph Pineo responded to the Smalls Point Road in Machiasport for a residential burglary alarm. Upon arriving Deputy Pineo could not determine if anything was missing.

Deputy Ralph Pineo respond to Shiretown Circle in Machias for a civil assist. A female wanted to retrieve her belonging from her residence in Marshfield and was afraid the husband would not let her have them. Deputy Pineo clear without incident.

Deputies Ralph Pineo, Keith York, Lieutenant Travis Willey and the Pleasant Point Police Department responded to Mahar Lane in Perry for five subjects fighting. Before the deputies could arrive subjects started to leave the scene. The case is currently under investigation and charges are being reviewed.

Deputy Brandon Parker responded to a theft complaint on Us-Rt#1 in Whiting at the Kids Closet Store. A subject came in and had stolen a pair of Baby Shoes. The store just wanted the shoes returned. Deputy Parker made contact with the suspects and the shoes were returned.

Deputy Brandon Parker while on patrol in the Town of Lubec on the South Lubec Road noticed an open door at a residence. Deputy Parker checked the residence and cleared with no further action.

04/12/11:

Deputy Sergeant Randy Perry responded to Us-Rt#182 on the Hancock County, Washington County line. The crash was property damage only and was determined to be in Hancock County. Deputy Sergeant Perry assist with crash.

Deputy Brandon Parker responded to Main Street in Lubec for a report of a juvenile out of control. Caller reporting 16 year old juvenile out of control destroying property. Deputy Parker assist with controlling the Juvenile.

Deputy Sergeant Randy Perry responded to Wallace Cove in Milbridge for theft of a 16' Coleman Laker Canoe. The investigation continues.

Deputy Sergeant Randy Perry responded to Us-Rt#9 in T31MD for a property damage motor vehicle crash. A vehicle was towing a trailer with a vehicle on the trailer and the trailer rolled over with the vehicle on it causing damage to the vehicle being towed.

Deputy Sergeant Randy Perry received a call from the Milbridge Ambulance Service reporting on Us-Rt#1 in Milbridge there was a blue buick with four girls hanging out of it to the waist driving down the road. Deputy Sergeant Perry did not locate the vehicle.
Deputies Brandon Parker, Ralph Pineo responded to a residential burglary alarm on Julia Cove Lane in Lubec. They cleared with no burglary.

Deputy Sergeant Tim Tabbutt responded to a suicidal subject in the driveway of Narraguagus Estates. The caller reported the subject was standing in the driveway with what appeared to be a firearm pointed to his head. Deputy Sergeant Tabbutt arrived and the subject was gone from the area. Deputy Sergeant Tabbutt determined during his investigation the subject was talking on a cell phone and no weapon was used.

Deputy Ryan Allen responded to the Wesley Elementary School in Wesley for a commercial alarm. It was determined faculity were at the School.

Deputies Ryan Allen, John Peterson and the Pleasant Point Police Department responded to Golding Road in Perry. Female caller reporting a domestic with her husband. Husband throwing things around the house and female fled to another residence. Male subject was arrested for domestic assault.

Deputies Sergeant Tim Tabbutt, John Peterson responded to Mason Bay Road in Jonesport for a domestic. Female caller reporting she was calling for her daughter. Caller stated her daughter and husband were arguing and the husband started to break things. Deputies Sergeant Tabbutt, Peterson arrested the male subject for domestic.

Deputy Ryan Allen received a call Division Highway in Addison for a report of a domestic dispute. Female caller reporting she was punched in the face by her boyfriend. Deputy Allen arrested a male subject for domestic assault.

Deputy Ryan Allen responded to Marion Station Road in Dennysville for a residential alarm. Deputy Allen determined the building was all secure.

04/13/11:

Deputy Ralph Pineo received a report of a theft at Schodic Lake in T18MD. Caller reporting the theft of two boats. The case is under investigation.

Deputy Ralph Pineo received a call at Cross Roads in Columbia to assist a Land Loard with removing a tenant by Court Order. No incident with removing the tenant.

Deputy Sergeant Tim Tabbutt responded to Pea Ridge Road in Columbia to a home evasion. Caller reporting a male subject kicked her door in and has fled. Deputy Sergeant Tabbutt responded and during the investigation arrested a male subject for criminal mischief.

Deputy Ryan Allen responded to North Road in Topsfield for a domestic assault. Caller reporting her boyfriend had assaulted her. Deputy Allen during his investigation arrested the male subject for domestic assault.

Deputy Sergeant Tim Tabbutt responded to Wescogus Corner in Addsion to assist a tractor trailer. The tractor trailer was broken down on the corner. Sergeant Tabbutt provided traffic direction.

Deputy Sergeant Tim Tabbutt responded to Mason Bay Road in Jonesport for a civil assist.
04/14/11:

Deputy Sergeant Tabbutt assisted a male subject with getting his belonging from his residence. The male subject was prohibited from being at the residence due to a domestic assault.

Deputy Rayn Allen received a report of residential alarm on Mason Bay Road in Jonesport. It was determined the alarm was set off by a appraisal company hired to do an appraisal.

04/15/11:

Deputy Sergeant Tim Tabbutt received a call of speeding vehicles at the Cherryfield Elementary School. Deputy Sergeant Tabbutt will make other Deputies and Agency aware of the compliant for speeding enforcement.

Deputy Sergeant Tim Tabbutt received a report of a theft in Jonesport. Caller reporting he sold two cell phones on Craig's List and sent them to Canada and never received the money for them. Case remains open and under investigation.

Deputy Sergeant Tim Tabbutt received a request from a female caller. Caller requesting assistance while she went to a residence to get her belongings in Steuben.

Deputy John Peterson responded to Chases Mill Road in East Machias for a property damage car dog crash.

Deputy Ralph Pineo responded to Golding Road in Perry for a property damage motor vehicle crash. Caller reporting subject drove out of driveway and into the ditch. Driver of the vehicle has left the scene and there is damage to the culvert. Deputy Pineo located the vehicle and obtained all the information for the crash report.

Deputy Keith York responded to Schoodic Lake in Columbia for a residential burglary. Caller reported his camp had been broken into and thinks there might be other camps burglarized. Deputy York is investigating the incident(s).

Deputy Lieutenant Travis Willey received a report of a theft at Church Street in Jonesport. Caller reported leaving his keys in the vehicle and returned from working the tide and keys are gone out of his vehicle. The case is open and under investigation.

Deputy Ralph Pineo responded to a report of a criminal mischief at Oak Point Road in Harrington. Caller reporting his tires were slashed and windshield had been smashed on his vehicle. No suspects and the case is open and under investigation.

Deputy Lieutenant Travis Willey the Steuben Fire Department, the Cherryfield Fire Ambulance and Milbridge Ambulance responded to a personal injury motor vehicle accident on Us-Rt#1 in Steuben.

Deputy Keith York responded to Ridge Road in Addison for a property damage motor vehicle crash.

Deputy Ralph Pineo responded to Golding Road in Perry for a residential burglary. Caller reporting someone entered her residence and stole a computer. Case open and under investigation.

Deputy Keith York responded to Village Road in Steuben for a report of criminal trespass. Male caller reporting would like a subject refusing to leave his residence removed. Deputy York arrived and subject left on his own. No charges.

Deputy Ralph Pineo responded to Us-Rt#1 in Perry for a property damage car deer crash.

Deputy Keith York responded to Schoodic Barrens in Columbia for a criminal mischief complaint. Male caller reporting left his broken down vehicle parked and left to get help and when he returned all the windows had been smashed out and his money stolen from his wallet. Case open and under investigation.

Deputy Keith York responded to Main Street in Jonesport, Hamilton Marine for a duress alarm. Deputy York arrived and it was accidental alarm.

Deputy Adam Davis and the Maine Warden Service responded to Cove Road in Trescott for a report of residential burglary. During the course of the investigation suspects were developed and arrest was made.

04/16/11:

Deputy Keith York stopped a vehicle on the Ridge Road in Cherryfield and arrested the female operator for an outstanding warrant for parole violation. The female had children with her and Deputy York had to make arrangements with family member(s) for the children. Deputy York was assisted by Milbridge Police Department.

Deputy Adam Davis responded to Sullivan Lane in Whiting. Caller wanted well being check done on male subject who was very intoxicated. Deputy Davis arrived and assisted the intoxicated subject with getting help.

Deputy Keith York responded to North Street in Harrington for a criminal mischief complaint. Caller reporting his vehicle was stolen night before and returned to his residence with a large amount of damage. Caller did not have any suspects. Deputy York is still investigating the complaint for possible charges.

Deputy Sergeant Randy Perry received a report on Rogers Point Road in Steuben of ATV's driving up and down on public way. Deputy Perry passed information on to other deputies and agencies for enforcement.

Deputy Sergeant Randy Perry responded to the Harrington Irving where it was reported juveniles drinking alcohol in the parking lot.

Deputy Sergeant Randy Perry, the Milbridge Police Department and Cherryfield ambulance responded to a property damage motor vehicle crash on Park Street in Cherryfield.

Deputy Sergeant Randy Perry received a report of suspicious activity on Cates Road in Harrington. Caller reporting a truck parked down the road with motor running for almost two hours. Vehicle was gone when Deputy Sergeant Perry arrived.

04/17/11:

Deputy Sergeant Randy Perry responded to a report of a operating under the influence complaint on Feeney Street in Jonesport. Caller advised female subject would be leaving a residence shortly operating under the influence. Deputy Sergeant Perry arrived and the vehicle never left the yard.

Deputy Sergeant Randy Perry responded to Willey District Road in Addison for a report of a Operating under the influence complaint. Caller reporting a female subject just left residence operating under the influence of alcohol. Caller stated the female operator would be headed toward Jonesport. Deputy Sergeant did not make contact with the vehicle.

Deputy Ryan Allen responded to Mic Mac Lane in Machiasport for a residential alarm. Deputy Allen arrived and the building was all secure.

Deputy Ryan Allen received a call of harassment on Ayers Junction Road in Charlotte. Deputy Allen is investigating the complaint and charges may follow.

Deputy Keith York received a call of harassment on Estates Road in Cherryfield. Caller reporting being harassed by a tenant in the apartment building. Deputy York continues to investigate the complaint.

Deputy Ryan Allen assist the Machias Police Department at the Machias Trailer Park in Machias with suicidal subject. Subject transported to Down East Community Hospital for evaluation.

Deputy Keith York responded to Kennedy Highway in Milbridge for a criminal mischief complaint. Caller reporting over night a rock was thrown through a window. Deputy York is still investigating the complaint.

Deputy Keith York received a report of harassment in Harrington. Caller reporting someone they know keeps calling and hanging up.

WEEKLY REPORT WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE 04/04/11 to 04/10/11

ITEMS OF INTEREST:

04/04/11:

Deputy Ralph Pineo responded to a report of criminal mischief in Robbinston where a male subject reported from his boat off shore from the State Park he could see another male subject slashing his tires. This investigation continues.

Deputy Keith York responded to Harrington to assist the Stepping Stone Agency with disposal of medications for a subject.

Deputy Keith York and Deputy Ralph Pineo responded to Jonesport to a report of a suicidal female subject. Deputy York transported the female subject to Down East Community Hospital with out incident.

Deputy Ralph Pineo responded to a domestic dispute in Lubec. Caller reporting dispute between grandfather and caller's boyfriend over the tenancy of a house the boyfriend of granddaughter occupied. Under investigation as civil dispute.

Deputy Keith York severed a protection order on a female subject in Cherryfield.

Deputy Ralph Pineo assisted Probation and Parole by checking a male subject in Machiasport for violation. The male subject was reported intoxicated and in violation. No arrest was made.

Deputy Ralph Pineo responded to a car deer crash in Edmunds by Bells Bridge.

Deputy Keith York responded to a domestic dispute in Cherryfield. Female reporting father of her children had taken one of the children with him and had no permission to do so. During course of investigation it was determine no charges.

Deputy Sergeant Randy Perry responded to a report of harassment on the Wyman Road in Milbridge. A mother was calling for her daughter reporting she was being harassed by the daughters fathers family member over a prior domestic abuse complaint filed. No action taken.

Deputy Sergeant Randy Perry responded to a reported domestic dispute in Cherryfield. Caller reported her daughter needed assistance leaving her residence. Daughter was afraid to leave because of her husband. Daughter was able to leave with out incident.

Deputy Brandon Parker responded to a property damage motor vehicle crash on Rt# 187 in Jonesport.

Deputy Brandon Parker reported a motor vehicle was stuck on North Maine Street, Milbridge. The female driver of the vehicle got it stuck after looking at the fire trucks which responded to a fire on North Maine Street. No charges.
04/05/11:

Deputy Lieutenant Travis Willey arrested a male subject in Machias on a warrant out of Machias District Court.

Deputy Ralph Pineo received a report of an open door at the Uncle Kippy's restaurant in Lubec. No crime committed and arrangements were made to secure the building.

Deputy Keith York assist the Maine State Police at a domestic dispute on Main Street in Harrington. Subject arrested by Maine State Police.

Deputy Sergeant Randy Perry arrested a female subject in Machias with out incident on a bail violation.

04/06/11:

Deputy Ralph Pineo received a report of a theft complaint in Cherryfield. The investigation is ongoing.

Deputy Sergeant Tim Tabbutt responded to a suspicious activity complaint in Cherryfield on Rt# 1-A. A male caller reporting vehicle pulled into his driveway and has been parked for no reason. Caller reported he thought the vehicle was 'casing' his residence. Investigation was conducted and no charges.

04/07/11:

Deputy Sergeant Randy Perry responded to a call of assault in Cherryfield. No charges in the case.

Deputy Sergeant Randy Perry responded to a burglary on Rt#9 in Beddington. Residential burglary of a camp where the cooper tubing was stripped from the camp. The case is till open and under investigation.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office, the Office of the Fire Marshal, the Maine Forest Service, pleasant Point Police Department, Eastport Police Department and Calais Police Department conducted a joint operation to reduce crime in the Perry Pembroke area. (Press Release).

Deputy Sergeant Randy Perry responded to a report of a male subject intoxicated at a local store in Cherryfield attempting to purchase alcohol. Store refused to sell the alcohol and subject left in his vehicle. Sergeant Perry could not locate the vehicle.

04/08/11:

Deputy Rayn Allen responded to a domestic assault in Steuben. Female caller reporting she was pushed into her vehicle then punched by a male subject she knew. Deputy Allen was assisted by the Milbridge Police Department. Case is under investigation.

Deputy Sergeant Tim Tabbutt responded to a property motor vehicle crash in the parking lot of the Harrington Irving. No charges.

Deputy Ryan Allen responded to a domestic assault in Steuben. Female caller reporting she was involved in a verbal argument. When she went to leave a male subject struck her with his vehicle. No injuries. Case in under investigation.

Deputy Ralph Pineo arrested a Glenn Watson 60 years old from Perry for violation of condition of release. Deputy Pineo was assisted by pleasant Point Police Department.

Deputy Ralph Pineo responded to a report of shots fired in East Machias. During investigation deputy Pineo determined the shots fired were the Fire Works the Town of East Machias were having.

Deputy John Peterson responded to a burglary to a residence on Katie Lane in Robbinston. Investigation continues.

Deputy John Peterson responded to a two vehicle property damage crash in the parking lot of the Pentecostal Church in Danforth.

Deputy Keith York and Deputy Ralph Pineo responded to a domestic assault at the Giant Panda restaurant in East Machias. Female reported to Machias Police Department she was assaulted. Deputy York arrested Richard Pitty 28 years old from East Machias for domestic assault. Case still under investigation.

Deputy Lieutenant Travis Willey responded to Unionville Road in Stueben to assist Hancock County Sheriff's Office in an investigation. Deputy Lieutenant Willey retriever the information for Hancock Sheriff's Office and there investigation continues.

Deputy Brandon Parker responded to the Fort O'Brien School in Machiasport to assist Maine State Police Trooper Stacie Carpenter with an open door. Deputy Parker and Trooper Carpenter search the building and an employee left door open.

January 2011 Monthly Report

01/31/11: The Civil Precess Division handled 175 papers of civil process.

01/31/11: Five Sex Offenders were registred in the month of January.

01/31/11: Average inmate count for the month January was forty two.

01/31/11: The Sheriff’s Patrol Division handled 292 Calls for Service from January 1, 2011 through January 31, 2011.

The cooperative effort with the Baileyville Police Department in sharing information by utilizing the Washington County Records Management system is going extremely well. This transition has gone so well the Town of Milbridge is now in a trial phase with hopes of also sharing information.

December 2010 Monthly Report

12/08/10: The Washington County Board of Visitors met with Senator Kevin Raye and Representative Joyce Maker to discuss future legislation.

12/11/10: The Washington County Sheriff's Office along with the Maine State Police had the honor and the privilege to escort Wreath Across America from Washington County to Washington D.C.

12/17/10: The “Cops For Kids” program was a success again this year thanks to the many generous people of Washington County who provide hundreds of stuffed toy's that were sent from Washington County to Phnom Penh Cambodia. These stuffed toy's provide Christmas Gifts for children in an orphanages.


12/1710: Deputy Keith York completed eighteen weeks of training at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. Deputy York was top in his class in firearms proficiency.

12/31/10: Deputy Dennis Dorsey resigned his postion as a deputy sheriff. Dennis has taken a position with the Calais Police Department.

12/31/10: Lt. Mary Zidalis and Sgt. Karina Richardson are now in charge of the Sex Offender Registry.

12/31/10: The Civil Process Division handled 170 paper of Civil Process.


12/31/10: Average inmate count for the month of December, 47.


12/31/10: The Sheriff’s Patrol Division handled 318 Calls for Service from December 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010.

The Patrol Division organized and conducted a cooperative simunition active shooter firearms training program at the Lubec Consolidated School. Agencies attending were the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Calais Police Department, Baileyville Police Department, State of Maine Marine Patrol, US Border Patrol, Machias Police Department, and State of Maine Downeast Corrections. Equipment utilized for this training was purchased with a joint grant with the City of Calais and the Washington County Training Council.

The Patrol Division is proud to work cooperatively with the Baileyville Police Department in working to share information by utilizing the Washington County Records Management system. This endeavor will reduce operating cost for the County of Washington and the Baileyville Police department by sharing the service.

November 2010 Monthly Report

11/14/10: Maine Drug Enforcement Agency has cut an agent position from the Washington County Sheriff's Office and the County of Washington.

11/30/10: The Civil Division handled 157 papers of Civil Process.

11/30/10: Average inmate count for the month of November is 49 inmates.

11/30/10: There was 1 Sex Offender Registrant (SOR) for November. This was due to a change in the operations in Patrol and a reassignment of the SOR program.

The Sheriff’s Patrol Division experienced a very busy month handling 353 Calls for Service from November 1, 2010 through November 30, 2010.

The Patrol division request and received from the Bureau of Highway Safety, the 2010/2011 grant funding for the Holiday High Visibility, Operating Under the Influence Campaign. The Patrol will be stepping up its enforcement of OUI drivers and holding, Road Safety Check points.
